A small place after rain
A gazetteer entry is not a fact sheet. It is a gentle invitation to look again.
Water leaves a dark line where the path meets the reeds. A leaf catches there, then turns when the current loosens it.
What stays when the water moves on?
Find one fallen leaf. Put it beside the waterline. Draw the shape you see, without naming it yet.
Come back after the ground dries. What changed? What did not?
For the adult nearby
Follow the child’s attention without turning the moment into a quiz. Stay on the path, keep hands out of moving water, and let “I don’t know yet” be a complete answer.
